From Insight to Action: How the Leading Through Change Workshop is a High Impact Investment
A Senior Vice President hired to turnaround a division was one year into the transformation. A significant portion of the team had been rebuilt and the SVP felt that the leadership group had finally reached a critical point of alignment. Culture and productivity were headed in the right direction, yet the SVP knew that the team still faced several challenges over the coming years. For the division to navigate those challenges and mitigate risk, it would be crucial for her entire leadership group to become better at leading through change.
Does this sound familiar? Or maybe you are facing a different type of scenario. At Switch, we find in our work with clients that there are situations, like the one above, in which a workshop is the best answer. Some people hear, “workshop,” and they think, “we don’t have the time.” What our clients tell us is that bringing their leaders together to learn how to lead through change has been one of their highest-impact investments in their culture, risk mitigation, and productivity.
Why a workshop?
Our clients experience at least four benefits from participating in our Leading through Change workshop series:
Enhanced leadership skills. Your team will improve their communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Better team alignment. During the workshop, your leaders will work together through interactive exercises. These activities build relationships across your leadership team and equip everyone with the tools needed to improve alignment beyond the workshop.
Increased leadership empathy. Good change leadership is knowing your people, and at the heart of that is the awareness and ability to put yourself in another’s shoes. At the end of a Switch workshop, everyone will walk away with an understanding of how critical this is and with the knowledge of how to do this well.
Improved productivity. Very often being “stuck” is a symptom of a people problem. As your team members enhance their leadership skills, become more aligned, and the level of empathy across the culture increases, you will see a quantifiable benefit to your metrics.
When is a workshop right for you?
Is your organization going through new changes and challenges, like a reorganization, new business strategy, introducing a new product or service? Do you have an upcoming leadership offsite where you see potential value in recentering your team and focusing on bringing everyone together to align on a new direction? These are great opportunities to introduce the Leading Through Change workshop with Switch.
What happens during the Leading Through Change workshop?
The workshop content provides an immediate positive impact to support your current needs as well as a long-term, sustainable impact on your culture and the way your people lead through change. What makes Leading through Change so special? At Switch, we focus on both the art and the science of leading change. Two experienced Switch facilitators guide up to 18 of your leaders in either a virtual or in person setting.
In the first module, “Understanding Reactions to Change”, our facilitators help your leaders understand the human side of change and equip them with what they can say and do during the change to achieve their goals.
The second module, “Defining New Behaviors and Making Them Stick”, focuses on how your leaders can help their teams transition through change effectively.
The third module adds “Next Level Questions” to help leaders practice empathy by anticipating and responding to a deeper set of questions about the change.
We then bring all the workshop elements together to allow participants to practice what they’ve learned using a scenario situation.
